About Quetzal Burosystem

First a bit of history...
How can we fit out new computer rooms for schools and colleges without constructing new buildings?

From this thought the first multi-use work station integration was born in a garage in Isère in 1995, it allowed people to work on a computer at the same time as performing more traditional activities with pen and paper, at the same time as minimising the space occupied in offices.
We named it FORMAT, a combination of FORmation, InforMATique
As with any good idea, computer integration quickly found its first customers including, in addition to teachers, pharmacy receptions and language lab installers moving from cassette to computer, airport check in desks and television sets... QUETZAL went on manufacture 800 desks in 1996...

"The ancestor of the integrated-screen computer desk", The first FORMAT PLUS desk is delivered in 1995. Our competitors copy it as well...

A few years later computers would arrive in mass to schools, colleges universities and other educational institutions...

A solution was required to prevent students having to face the wall with their backs to the board or the instructor as the power sockets were located along the walls, we also needed to get rid of all the cables and sockets which were causing hygiene and safety problems. QUETZAL designed and manufactured solutions allowing cable guides to be fitted to the legs of desks allowing classrooms to be organised in rows, facing the board, as well as in "U"-shaped configurations and independent islands.
During recent years QUETZAL has contributed to the democratisation and mass promotion of computers at all levels, but particularly in teaching. Computer equipment is undergoing constant change in terms of the size and shape of screens and CPUs, and QUETZAL is adapting to these changes as they occur, sometimes even anticipating them, such as adaptation to the 22" flat screens which are now available. The cable integration system has not changed though, it has become the benchmark for many customers, other desks available on the market do not offer the same functionality, this being imperative and mandatory for compliance with current standards.

By 2011, QUETZAL is the uncontested leader in the manufacture of computer furniture in France, over 150,000 FORMAT PLUS desks have been installed and 15,000 desks were delivered during the 2010/2011 school year.

Juin 2011, QUETZAL moved into their new headquarters in an environmentally-friendly building in LOYETTES, in the Ain region, close to the cross-roads of the motorways linking the regions of France, the depot has 2000 m2 of floor space and can house over 1,000 desks, allowing them to be shipped in 8 working days.
